Committees

Our congregation needs all the talent it can find to make its services, programs and activities more meaningful to our "family of families." Even if we can't attend regular meetings, we can often volunteer our time to a specific activity:

Avodah

  • To help make our congregation's worship experience richer, deeper and more relevant to those who worship at Temple Beth Torah. The Avodah Committee is a group of forward looking lay leaders, invested as partners by their clergy, sharing responsibility for the worship life of our community.

Brotherhood

Doug Barr brotherhood@templebethtorah.net
  • To serve the Temple whenever and wherever help is needed. To fundraise to assist all arms of the congregation. To participate in the religious life of the congregation through activities such as the annual construction of the Temple Succah, to sponsor family activities like the Temple barbeque, trips to football games and fishing trips.

Budget/Finance

  • To prepare and present a planning budget to the Board, to supervise the accounts of the congregation, to recommend and monitor investment of congregational funds.

Caring

Cindy Albers

  • To contact congregants who are suffering from illness or loss of a family member and to let them know that the Congregation is there for them during crises and celebrations alike.

Facility Operations

  • To be responsible for the maintenance of the congregation's buildings and property.

High Holiday

  • To coordinate the High Holy Day ticketing and childcare of members and guests.

Library

  • To advise the Librarian on collection policy, acquisitions and circulation. To review proposed library budgets and to assist with the planning and implementation of special library projects like developing programs and exhibits for Jewish Book Month.

Lifelong Learning

  • To coordinate Temple Beth Torah's ongoing adult education events, including weekly Torah study and monthly book discussions. Also responsible for frequent special events, such as hosting guest speakers, film series and other fun interesting learning opportunities.

Membership

  • To attract new members, integrate newly joined congregants and to retain our membership.

Preschool

Religious School

Sisterhood

  • The organization of the women of the Congregation who band together in friendship for programs to benefit the Temple and the Jewish community, for social activities, for study, and, above all, for the growth of the individual so that each may find an opportunity to fulfill her potential as a person and as a Jewish woman.
Social Justice Shelia Phillips & Vicky Larson socialjustice@templebethtorah.net
  • "To do justice, love goodness, and walk humbly with your God." These words of the prophet Micah exemplify the work of the committee both within and outside the walls of the temple. Following in the long tradition of our Reform Movement's social action agenda we advocate in the public forum, often in association with like-minded organizations, for initiatives such as the ending of genocide, reduction of crime, and increased affordable public housing and healthcare. Our projects and involvements are limited only by our willingness to act.

Ushers
