Our Cantor

Cantor Rachel Slusky joined Temple Beth Torah in 2021 as our Cantor and Education Director.

Cantor Rachel grew up in Houston, TX and earned her undergraduate degree in vocal performance from the Boston Conservatory, where some of her most memorable moments were premiering new composers’ works and performing in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro. During her studies at Hebrew College, she was part of an education fellowship and received cantorial ordination and Masters of Jewish Education in 2020. During her studies, she served at Anshe Amunim in Pittsfield, MA where her voice was heard for the High Holy Days and other holiday services, as well as for Shabbat services at NewBridge on the Charles in Dedham, MA.

As religious school director, Cantor Rachel oversees innovative learning programs for our Kindergarten through 12th grade. Through Jewish education, she wants to help and see learners and congregants live to their fullest potential. Combining music, ritual, and community, our school seeks not only to educate, but to also strengthen one another while navigating the joys and challenges of life.
