Our RabbiRabbi Stephen H. Pinsky Stephen H. Pinsky became the rabbi of Temple Beth Torah in July of 1996. A native of New York and raised in a Reform congregation, Rabbi Pinsky earned his BA from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. He then entered Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York City and earned his Master of Arts in Hebrew Letters (MHL) and ordination in 1971. He has served our Reform Movement in congregations in New York, New Jersey, Minnesota and now at our congregation. Rabbi Pinsky was awarded the Doctor of Divinity (honoris causa) from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion celebrating his 25th anniversary of rabbinic service in 1996.
Immediately prior to his installation as rabbi of Temple Beth Torah, Rabbi Pinsky served for five years as the Regional Director of the Midwest Council of the Union for Reform Judaism (formerly the Union of American Hebrew Congregations), a region serving 65 congregations from Tennessee in the east to Colorado and Wyoming in the west.
Rabbi Pinsky has served or currently serves on many Jewish and community-based organizations including:
- Vice chair of the Center of Victims of Torture of Minnesota
- Board member of the National Conference of Christians and Jews
- President of the Interfaith Partnership of Metropolitan St. Louis
- President of the Association of Reform Rabbis of St. Louis
- Board member of the St. Louis Jewish Federation & Community Relations Council
- Member of the Joint Commission on Rabbinic Placement
- Member of the Joint Commission on Synagogue Music
- Past President of the Palm Beach County Board of Rabbis
- Current member of the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach Community Relations Council
- Current member of the boards of the Anti-Defamation League, American Jewish Committee and the Homeless Coalition of Palm Beach County
- Western Communities Ministerial Association
