Stephen H. Pinsky became the rabbi of Temple Beth Torah in July of 1996. A native of New York and raised in a Reform congregation, Rabbi Pinsky earned his BA from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. He then entered Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York City and earned his Master of Arts in Hebrew Letters (MHL) and ordination in 1971. He has served our Reform Movement in congregations in New York, New Jersey, Minnesota and then at our congregation. Rabbi Pinsky was awarded the Doctor of Divinity (honoris causa) from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion celebrating his 25th anniversary of rabbinic service in 1996.
Immediately prior to his installation as rabbi of Temple Beth Torah, Rabbi Pinsky served for five years as the Regional Director of the Midwest Council of the Union for Reform Judaism (formerly the Union of American Hebrew Congregations), a region serving 65 congregations from Tennessee in the east to Colorado and Wyoming in the west.
Rabbi Pinsky had served our congregation for seventeen years at the time of his retirement in June of 2013. We are delighted that the Pinsky’s have chosen to remain residents of Wellington while they travel, visit their children and grandchildren and enjoy all that life has to offer.
